Dr Sweta Paliwal graduated from Dentistry in 2003 from the University of Queensland with Class I Honours. She obtained experience working in private and public practice sectors for the next five years off the Gold Coast, Northern and Hunter regions of NSW. In 2008, she commenced a three year specialist training program in Periodontics at Griffith University in the Gold Coast, and since graduating in 2011, has been working in periodontal private practice full-time. She also spent a year overseas in the United Kingdom in 2017 carrying out research and teaching in the Periodontology department at the prestigious Eastman Dental Institute in London. Her research at the Eastman was in the field of periodontics and systemic disease interactions, looking at the risk of acute vascular events after invasive dental treatment.
Sweta has served as president of the Australian Society of Periodontology (QLD) in 2012, and treasurer of the AMARA Gold Coast Dental Study Group from 2014-2016. She is a member of various professional organisations including the Australian Dental Association, International Team for Implantology, Australian Society of Periodontology, and Australian & New Zealand Academy of Periodontists, as well as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. She has a strong grounding in academics and has carried out clinical supervision of university dental and periodontal students for many years, which she greatly enjoys.
Sweta is dedicated to the treatment and management of all aspects of periodontal diseases and implant therapy. Besides this, she enjoys travelling, cooking, reading, and spending time with friends and family.
